It's a fun concert evening for all ages with this enthusiastic musical group! Playing some Halloween-themed and other selections, they'll entertain with a surprising variety of instruments, from the recognizable to the truly inventive.
The Kitchen Band is an activity sponsored by the JRP 50+ Activity Center here in St. Joseph, Missouri. A kitchen band is a group who plays wash boards, ice cube trays, flower pots, wash tubs, and other kitchen-like instruments along with piano, ukuleles, kazoos, bird whistles, drums, tambourines and more. It is open to anyone who likes music and is willing to commit to practices. The band plays all kinds of music including old folk tunes, country, pop, waltzes; and they even have some dancers and vocalists.
Interested in participating in the Kitchen Band? The band practices Tuesday mornings from 10-11 at the JRP Center, 100 S. 10th Street, St. Joseph. They encourage folks to come try them out, find an instrument to enjoy there, and have a rollicking good time! There's no cost to join and no audition, so as the director of the band says, "What do you have to lose? Come see what fun you can have and make new friends!"
