Homebound delivery at Rolling Hills Library is a combination of our Books By Mail (BBM) program with direct-to-door service for local residents and library patrons in nursing homes and senior care centers.
We call our service the STAR Program. STAR stands for Services To Adult Readers! Our program is aimed at adults in Andrew and Buchanan Counties who are unable to visit the library regularly due to age, illness, disability, or other transportation challenges. You can use our STAR service temporarily, while recovering from an accident for example, or as an ongoing service.
Our STAR service will provide homebound adults with free, personalized selection and delivery of books, large print books, audio books, CDs, and DVDs. Delivery may be by mail or in person by a library staff member or volunteer. About once a month, or more if needed, a trained library volunteer or staff member will mail or bring library materials to your home, apartment, senior care center, or nursing home room. You will be able to use them for up to 4 weeks, and can renew materials for another 8 weeks if no one else is waiting for them. We will then pick-up and return the materials to the library for you, and bring you more!
Missouri residents who are unable to use standard print materials due to a visual or physical disability may also be eligible for free services from the Wolfner Library in Jefferson City. Materials are mailed to and from library patrons at their homes, postage paid. There is no charge, whatsoever, to the patron. Currently, over 11,000 Missourians actively use Wolfner Library, which operates in conjunction with the National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped at the Library of Congress in Washington, DC. Please visit their site or call 1.800.392.2614 for more information.
If you, a friend, or relative are interested in the STAR program, you can call the Outreach Department at 816.205.7100 or fill out the form on this page and a library staff member will get in touch with you regarding the program.
