Explore the history and ongoing programs of "St. Joseph's first motel", brought by Robidoux Row board president Hans Bremer and board member Kelly Lock, in this program open to all.
Joseph Robidoux, the city's founder, would let families stay at the Row rent free while their houses were being built near the downtown area. Later, persons who were traveling west often stayed at Robidoux Row while waiting for their wagons to be ferried across the river or during the long hard winters. In 1857 Joseph Robidoux moved to the east apartment of the Row after his wife Angelique died, and spent the last eleven years of his life there. Archeological diggings and restoration of the Row took place in the 1970s, a new gallery was constructed in the 1980s, and the museum now has numerous galleries and displays highlighting various aspects of St. Joseph history.
