Rolling Hills Consolidated Library

Help

Answers to Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Do I have to pay to use your library?

A. Rolling Hills Library cards are FREE for everyone!  Most programs and events are FREE as well!  Occasionally, a craft program may ask for a modest fee to help us cover material costs.

Q. I’ve never had a library card. How do I get one?

A. Bring in some ID and we’ll fix you up! We’ll also need something with your current address, so bring in a piece of mail, utility bill or rental agreement if the address on your ID is not correct.

Q. I have a library card from another library. Can I use it here?

A. Rolling Hills is not connected to any other library and has a separate catalog, collection and computer system so other cards will not work. But many people have more than one library card and signing up for a new one only takes a few minutes!

Q. I checked out books from another library. Can I return them here?

A. The Belt Branch, Savannah Branch and Bookmobile are all part of Rolling Hills and you are welcome to return materials to any of our branches. If you checked out your materials somewhere OTHER THAN our three locations, we ask that you please return them to the lending library.  Look inside the cover or for a sticker for the name and address of the owning library.

Q. I’ve lost my card. How do I get a new one?

A. Replacement cards are $2. Bring in some ID and we’ll make you a new one!

Q. How much can I check out?

A. The first time you use your card there is a limit of 3 items. A temporary card has a limit of 10 items and a regular card has a limit of 50 items. There may be other limits on special materials, such as DVDs, that vary by location.

Q. How do I login to my account?

A. In the upper right corner of our library catalog, enter the last 6 digits of your library card number in the first field and your phone number in the second field. If your phone number begins with 816, you only need to enter the remaining 7 digits.

Q. What is my password?

A. If your phone number doesn’t work, you may have set your password to be something else.  Call or message us and we will reset it for you.

Q. Do you have Wi-Fi available?

A. Yes!  Free wi-fi is available at both Belt and Savannah Branches.  It is open access and you should see it as RHCL_LIB on your device.

Q. Is there a computer I can use?

A. We have public access computers at both Belt and Savannah Branches.  You sign on with your library card number or stop at the desk and get a guest pass.  Computer time is limited per day in order to provide access for more users.

Q. Do you have a fax machine?

A. No, we do not offer fax service to the public, either sending or receiving.  We recommend people try their local bank or office supply store.

Q. How do I check out an e-book?

A. With your library card number and password you can log in to our e-book and e-audio services and download items to your device with a certain app or interface.  Each device is different, so there is no one set of instructions.  We offer classes for people to learn how or make an appointment for one-on-one assistance.

Q. How do I register for an event?

A. Most library programs do not require registration, but we ask for it when we think there will be high demand or there is a limited number of seats available.  On our events calendar you can click on any event to see more details and register.

Q. How do I reserve a meeting room?

A. Meeting rooms are available for use by the public at both Belt and Savannah Branches.  You can check availability online at http://rhcl.libcal.com/booking/meetingrooms and place a request yourself, or call one of our locations and they will enter the request for you.
