The Rolling Hills Consolidated Library serves the residents of Andrew and Buchanan counties in northwest Missouri with a variety of services. In addition to our two branch locations, we also take materials into dozens of outlying communities and senior care facilities. Our slogan is "Explore the past. Enhance the present. Create the future." With almost 200,000 items in our collection, the library is just the place to do that!
To get a library card you must fill out an application form at the circulation desk. Identification and proof of current address are required, as well as a driver's license or alternate identification number and two phone numbers. If you pay property taxes in Andrew or Buchanan county but reside in a different county, bring a current copy of your tax receipt.
There is no minimum age limit for children to get cards. For children under age 13, a parent or legal guardian must sign the application form. A parent's driver's license number or library card number may be used in place of a child's Social Security number.
Temporary cards are issued for six months to people who are living in the area for a short time, such as college students or construction workers. You must provide something with your name and temporary address on it (like a piece of mail), an ID with your permanent address and a driver's license number.
Rolling Hills is a member of the Kansas City Metro Library and Information Network, so people who live in a library district that also belongs to KCLMIN can become members of Rolling Hills at no charge. Rolling Hills members can also join any KCLMIN library for free. People who live outside a KCLMIN district can get a non-resident library card for $25 per year. The fee covers everyone in the household.
Company and institutional cards are available with a written request on your institution's letterhead. The letter must be signed by your director and state who has the authority to use the card.
Please notify the library if your card is lost or stolen. You are responsible for materials checked out on your card until the loss has been reported. Replacement of a library card is $2.
Materials check out for three weeks and there is a limit of 50 items per card. Some high-demand materials have special limits on how many you can check out at one time. These limits change may change periodically. Special limits per card are:
Items can be renewed as long as no one is waiting for them. There is a limit of two renewals per item. If an item is long overdue, you will not be able to renew it. Items can be renewed in person, over the phone, or online.
Materials can be returned to either branch of the Rolling Hills Library. There are no fines for overdue materials, but your privileges could be blocked. You are responsible for materials checked out on your card as well as their condition and their timely return. Parents or guardians of minors are responsible for making sure materials checked out on minors' cards are returned.
If materials become damaged, please return them because they may be repairable at no cost to you. If materials are lost, you will be charged the replacement price of the item plus a $5 processing fee.
If what you want is checked out or at another branch, you can ask the staff at the circulation desk to put it on hold for you. You can place items on hold in person, over the phone, or online. Your name will be put on a list for the item, and you will be notified by mail when it is available for pick up. We keep items to be picked up on the hold shelf for one week.
