Grant providing library with books, toys
Books and educational toys for children are being added to Rolling Hills Library through a $4,000 grant administered by the Missouri State Library.
The library recently received a Racing to Read Story Time Plus grant to purchase $2,000 worth of early literacy books and $2,000 worth of puppets, puppet trees, tabletop puppet theaters, puzzles, blocks and educational toys for the Belt Branch, 1904 N. Belt, and the Savannah Branch, 514 W. Main.
The items and promotional materials that come with the grant promote ways for parents to prepare their children for reading, starting with babies and continuing through preschool.
The grant is supported by the federal Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act and administered by the state library. The institute is the primary source of federal support for the nation’s 122,000 libraries and 17,000 museums, and its mission is to create strong libraries and museums that connect people to information and ideas.
